Responsibility essential for students: Governor

CHIMPU, Sept 28: Governor Lt. General (Retd) KT Parnaik, while taking part in Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) conclave – ABVP Sangam – aimed at commemorating its 75-year celebrations at VKV here on Thursday, stressed on leadership and responsibility among the students.

He advised the students to imbibe the spirit of selflessness to enhance oneself. “If our youth are literate, disciplined and inspirational, the state development will follow,” he said and called upon them to contribute to state building by promoting unity and goodwill among the people.

Stating the ABVP is one of the largest student organizations in the world, he urged them to participate in creating awareness on health issues and eradication of drug menace. He exhorted them to be involved in preserving rich cultural heritage and traditions of the state.

He highlighted on National Education Policy 2020, Vibrant Village Programme and health issues to  participants, who included professional, officers and political leaders, all former ABVP volunteers.

ABVP national organising secretary Ashish Chauhan delivered keynote address to large number of ABVP members and functionaries.  Advisor to chief minister Tai Tagak, state ABVP president Dr. Bijay Raji and secretary Tatlom Tayeng also spoke. (PRO)
